Knicks Add Dalton Knecht on Two-Way Deal

Published October 24, 2026 at 8:05 am | By HERE City National Desk, Staff Reporter

Packed crowd of fans cheering with raised hands

NEW YORK — Dalton Knecht has a new NBA home. The New York Knicks finalized a two-way contract with the 25-year-old forward on Friday and put Kevin McCullar Jr. on waivers to clear the spot.

Knecht became available when the Los Angeles Lakers let him go over the weekend while cutting their roster to 15 players before opening night. Several other clubs, including Minnesota, had been linked to him before New York closed the deal.

The Lakers took Knecht 17th overall in the 2024 draft out of Tennessee, and he got off to a hot start as a shooter in his rookie year. His minutes shrank after that. Last season he played 54 games at roughly 10 minutes a night, scoring 4.2 points per game and hitting 34.2 percent of his three-point tries.

A two-way deal lets him appear in up to 50 games for the Knicks this season, and he is expected to log plenty of minutes for Westchester, the franchise G League team.

McCullar had spent three straight seasons with New York on two-way terms. Across 21 appearances for New York last season he scored 2.4 points per outing, and he received a championship ring at the team ceremony earlier this week.
